Everything about James John whispers, “potential.” This new (mid 2007) cafe in North Portland occupies the former bank building of the town of St. John’s, which explains the high ceilings, the ornate pressed tin, and the overall quality of the space.
James John is evolving. From breakfasts with surprisingly good coffee and baked goods, later to lunches that quickly got noticed, now recently to Sunday Night Suppers (reservations only). Chef/owner Suzanne Bozarth makes just about everything from scratch from the best natural, seasonal ingredients. Stay tuned, this story just keeps getting better.
